Who we are...

We are a student-run organization, affiliated with the ACS Division of Polymer Chemistry (POLY) and the Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE). Our home is the University of Minnesota’s departments of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering/Material Science (CEMS).

What we do...

Educational Seminars

We are proud to be able to host leaders in the field of polymer science from both industry and academia. Seminar speakers are invited to share aspects of their work and participate in one-on-one meetings with our members.

Technical Skills Workshops

We leverage local expertise at the University of Minnesota and invite professionals from industry to host workshops aimed at strengthening the technical skills of our members. Topics range from synthetic techniques to advanced characterization methods.

Social Networking

Networking is at the core of everything we do. Our members have the opportunity to meet and interact with host speakers from major universities, national laboratories, and Fortune 500 companies. We also host fun events aimed at strengthening our community such as happy hours, bowling, and much more!

Professional Development

Our members come from a multitude of professional backgrounds, including graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, professors, and alumni in industry. We leverage this diverse knowledge to host events aimed at professional development. Past events have included workshops that taught best practices for searching and acquiring a job, applying for grants and fellowships, giving effective presentations, and much more!

"I am inclined to think that the development of polymerization is perhaps the biggest thing chemistry has done, where it has the biggest impact on everyday life"

-Lord Alexander Todd (1957 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry)
